I was fortunate to live in a very friendly neighborhood.  The Boohers lived across the street, and the Speeds, with the four Speed girls, lived one block down the street.  There was always something to do.  During the summers, the kids would gather and have talent shows.  Since Davey was the official piano player, many of our shows were performed in his home.  Somehow, Davey managed to play with a straight face while we attempted to sing.  Although we were not American Idol material, he was a very accomplished pianist.  Pat and Gay Speed, Marka Booher, and I  were often the only participants and there was a lot of singing!  Davey was a good sport and a good friend.

Mrs. Booher was a special person.  My neighborhood was fortunate to have mothers that really took an interest in the children and were there when we needed them.  Mrs. Booher baked for us, knitted for us, played the piano for us, and sat outside at dusk with another neighbor almost every afternoon always making us feel welcomed if we wanted to stop and chat, which we often did.

Mr. Booher passed away early, but not after we were all exposed to his warm character.

Having Davey and his family as my across the street neighbor and friends has enriched my life.

Regards to All,

Myrtie
